When summer comes it is always hard to make sure that pets stay hyrdated and cool especially when you are travelling. I heard on the radio this morning that a woman had taken her lab out to do errands with her but then when she returned home forgot the dog in the car. Luckily for her the dog figured out how to honk the horn and honked until she came out to get him. But not every dog can do that, and cars are not good places for dogs ever during the summer.
At home we have a pool that is great for cooling us off and Koda likes to swim in the nearby swamp, and Sophie loves being in the house with the air conditioning. She even sleeps under blankets!
We love to go camping so we always try to find spots that Koda and Sophie can be under a tree and near water to go swimming. Although Sophie isn't too keen on the swimming she will tolerate being wetted. Koda on the other hand lays in the water and drinks it up.
Whenever it gets hot outside, make sure that you provide lots of water and shade for your pets, it is the best thing you can do for them!
