Worldly Adventures

I recently watched the movie The Way with Martin Sheen which is the story of a father who goes to collect his son who died on the Camino de Santiago, he then finishes his son's walk spreading his ashes along the walk. It was truly a touching story but it was the walk itself that interested me.

I seem to have lately acquired a lust for travel. The Camino de Santiago is a month long journey which I would love to do someday. I have continued my search to become an au pair. My top choices are still NZ or Australia. It is going to take a lot of effort for me to save up the money needed to go while still paying for school. It is really something that I feel like I need to do. I am beginning to feel a need to go out and explore the world.

Have any of you been on worldly adventures? Are their any that you would recommend?

Journey Tales Saturday Shares

Many of you who have followed my blog from the beginning know that I have a great love for my pets. In fact I have Facebook albums named "Love Me, Love My Pets", I certainly don't know what I would do if I fell in love with someone who was allergic or didn't like pets. Actually the latter would probably be a deal breaker. It appears that many other people who have pets feel the same way according to the globe and mail; http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/the-hot-button/love-her-love-her-pet-or-youre-in-the-doghouse/article2341121/?utm_medium=Feeds%3A+RSS%2FAtom&utm_source=Home&utm_content=2341121

What do you think? What would you do if a prospective partner didn't like your pets? How do you deal with it if your current partner doesn't like your pets?

I WON'T WALK AWAY, I GOTTA LOT TO SAY

I bought the new Hedley cd and found a song that I think really stands out to me as part of the the rallies and support to change BSL. The song is called A Bullet for your Dreams, listen to it here:

" I thought that I was free, they took that all away from me, they told me I should back down, on the ground not a sounds, dirty little freak, but this is how we bleed, and we ain't gonna stop now, a penny for your thoughts now, a bullet for your dreams, a bullet for your dreams, we've got the noise no way to silence it, don't let them block out your voice we're sick and tired of it, it's not ok we've had enough of it, playing dead for so long don't make you innocent, I won't walk away, I gotta lot to say"

If Dalton McGuinty thinks this fight will ever be over while our bullies are still discriminated against, he thinks wrong. Our bullies are not bully's and we will stand up for what we believe in!

Please show your support by going to Randy Hillier's website and sign the petition to help rid Ontario of BSL. http://www.randyhilliermpp.com/ontariocanleadagain/petitions-surveys/repeal-pitbull-ban-bill-16-public-safety-related-to-dogs-statute-law

Journey Tales Saturday Shares

This week I came across a blog post that rather interested me quite a bit. It's all about rescues, breeders and...fences. Go read it here: http://www.honestdog.com/.

I think that fences are important however the questions should really be how do you plan on completing bathroom outings and exercise outings. Your answer about fencing whether you are being asked by a breeder or a rescue should really be about how you plan on treating this dog. Will it be left outside for hours on end? Will it be apart of the family?

On the flip side when asking these questions it should be taken on a case by case basis with a family. Just because a family doesn't have a fence it doesn't mean they shouldn't have a pet. They may be a better pet owner than the person with the fence because they are going to take the time to exercise and walk the dog.
Here where I live we don't have a fenced in area, the dogs do often go out by themselves however if they are not inside within 5 minutes, I go out to check on them. I am certainly not going to brag about how well treated my dogs are however they are generally well trained to stay around the house. I also live in the county which is no excuse either.

For myself and others with no fences, grab a leash and there is no reason you can't have a dog!

What do you think about required fencing? What is your opinion?

Adoptable Thursdays

This week features another bullies in need pup!

I am really keen on supporting Bullies In Need especially as the countdown for Bill 16 continues. Please remember to support Randy Hillier in repealing BSL in Ontario.

Without further ado, introducing Dobby!

Here is what his foster Mom had to say about him;

Dobby is fantastic with children, small and big. Great with cats and just wants to wrestle and play with EVERY dog he meets. He's fully house-trained and clean in his crate. He loves his chew toys, long walks and bones in his crate while his humans are away. Dobby is great on walks but loves to smell and check out everything this new big world has to offer. The highlight of his walks seem to be when he gets a stick to carry proudly in his mouth lol. He sits and waits for his meals and to come out of his crate. He is learning down, leave-it, and off. Dobby is extremely food-motivated making training that much easier :) Dobby loves to be the centre of attention, and with his adorable poutty underbite, it is so easy for him to steal the show each and every time. Oh, and he roo roo's!!! He adores Ellie and Venus. At the end of a long day, he has to be curled up between the two of them and has come to expect his nightly grooming licks from Ellie. She plays momma :) It is absolutely priceless to watch them together :) What else can I say about my Dobby-Doo, other than he truly is a great pooch and deserves his forever home for the new year!

A Post About Posts

I love blogging, its like my own online journal along the way I have shared parts of my life, millions of photos, my opinion on the world and made attempts to educate.

I love that I have 22 followers while some of you don't comment and some of you do,
I am amazed that 22 people want to read my thoughts.

I quite regularly tell people about blogging especially pet blogging and I have gotten many different reactions some think it is really interesting, some like to read my posts once in awhile, some say the have read some blogs, and some think I need to get out more. No matter the reaction I know that as long as I enjoy blogging there will be posts to read.

I recently reread my first posts ever written but this

actually wasn't my first blog. I started a few before moving over here. I was a reader for awhile wondering if people would read what I had to write. I started blogging as a way to share my dog experience, then my foster stories and now it has begun to chronicle my life and my pets involved. It is interesting to start at the beginning and see how things have changed. I am positive and am starting to welcome more changes that are happening in my life.

I want to thank you all for commenting and showing me that there are good people in the world. I have been amazed by the generosity that bloggers have shown for one another. I enjoy reading your stories and am asked quite often what I am laughing at. I feel as though I have made life long friends.

In Memory of a Smile

I am going to post today even though I have pre posts up but blogging has become a way for me to get my feelings out.

Yesterday the world lost a wonderful girl and dear friend of mine. We may never know what happened aside from the news reports given out now, which makes my heart break. Korin was driving on the wrong side of the 401 major high way and hit another car. Both girls were killed on impact. I'm glad she didn't suffer. Either of them. My heart hurts for the family of the other girl and for her friends too.

Korin and I attended high school together even though she was two years older she never made it seem like it mattered. We played volleyball together, acted in school plays, and we partied together. Korin always had a smile and a laugh. Both I will miss dearly.

Dear Korin,

When we graduated we didn't see each other everyday anymore but I would like to think our friendship didn't change. I didn't feel as though it did because whenever I saw we caught up and shared some laughs. On new years eve it didn't seem like anything was different. I hope that you knew how much we all enjoyed seeing you and spending time with you. I will always remember you smiling and laughing over a story or a joke or something dumb we did that day. I have a lot of questions for you right now mostly I want to know why and what made you do such a thing. I hope we find answers but even so none of them will bring you back. I hope that you are at peace now and that God know what a great girl he has up there. Please share a smile or two and keep smiling down here on us as we muddle through this. We all have so many memories to look back on and I know we will get through this together. I'll miss you buddy!

Jumping In

It's hard to jump in the water with one foot out and one foot in.

I have been thinking on this for awhile, in fact many people have suggested this to me. After Fall 2012 I will be a certified ECE (Early Childhood Educator), provided I pass everything of course. I love to travel so why not put them together? Yes why not? Likely because I'm a big chicken about doing things on my own.

A friend of mine was telling me all about how her friend is an au pair in the summer time when she is out of school for 4 months. I of course got the information but didn't do anything with it. Until yesterday when a friend of mine from work came in to visit for the last time before she leaves to go to school in Australia. I was once again very interested in what she was doing. So since I only worked 2 days last week. (Yes I have been slacking on blogging and commenting and I was even off work) The site is Au Pair World, yes you can google it and yes if you have children and want me to come live with you please contact me! So I looked around, and looked at some potential families and thought why not sign up now. It is basically like a host family and au pair dating site, you have suggested profiles and have the ability to contact one another without giving out any personal contact information. I signed up and sent out some messages and then started looking into it further. I can officially say that I am superbly interested!

I am looking to become an au pair starting Janaury 2013 in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or the UK. If you know anyone who is looking for an au pair in any of those places tell them to look up Au Pair World and me!

Journey Tales Saturday Shares

I finally managed to come up with a name for my saturday blog posts. Posting on saturdays is actually one of the new changes that you see in my blog. I will get around to organizing the changes for you all eventually. The last shares were about dogs and about kids, mostly saturday shares will revolve around things I have been moved by and hope to share that feeling with you all.

This week I would like to share this: BARBIE GOING BALD

I discovered this through Emma at Embrace the Chaos, a Canadian MSN lifestyle blog.

Two Moms are campaigning Mattel to create a bald barbie. They are doing this through Facebook and it is located here: http://www.facebook.com/BeautifulandBaldBarbie?sk=info

I think that creating a bald barbie is a wonderful idea. All children play with toys and usually play out what they are going through or experiencing in their lives. Bald barbie also helps to teach children by prompting questions about why she has no hair. This is a great conversation starter!

Please like the campaign on Facebook and show your support! Hope you feel as moved by this campaign as me.

Adoptable Thursdays

This week on Adoptable Thursdays we are featuring an adorable and adoptable kitty from Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue.

This is Pearl

Here is a little bit about Pearl which is also on her pet finder page:

PEARL and another cat were found in a small wire crate that had been dumped in a snow bank around back of the P.J.'s store on Yonge Street. There was no note explaining how they got there or why they were abandoned. Pearl was quite timid when she first went into foster care but is slowly making progress. Here is some words from her foster mom: "Pearl is very vocal and loves to have her belly rubbed. She is getting better with being picked up but only for a few seconds and then wants down. As soon as I get up in the morning she is at the top of the stairs yelling at me to come down and feed her. When I walk in the door from work she runs to the kitchen and makes it very clear that she wont has no patience and wants her dinner NOW! She loves to watch the activity on the back deck squirrels and blue jays that come for the peanuts and bird seed. Pearl is still a little timid but she no longer runs up stairs when the door opens. She is getting better with people coming in the house and lets everyone pet her now." Pearl is currently in foster care in Pickering. She would do best in a quiet, adult only home without any other pets. Her adoption fee is $175.00, she has been spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV/FIV

You can find Pearl at Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue located at

Wordless Wednesday

ps. we are behind on posts and comments due to power outages and a lack of effort to pre-post
